The Venus chair was first designed by Hans Wegner for Fritz Hansen in 1948, but production ceased by 1950. In 2015 it was re-introduced by Getama in its original form with a walnut seat and back with oak legs. It is now also available in an all oak version and several finishes (see below), and most recently available with a thin upholstered seat in fabric or leather for a softer, more comfortable look and feel (options below).
The chair illustrates Wegner's fascination with bentwood with its curved seat and back shells on top of the simple yet elegant base making it surprisingly comfortable. The design was regarded experimental when it was first released but in today's design climate it fits right into any modern interior.
Available in the following wood finishes: Natural walnut, Oiled oak, White oiled oak, Black stained oak
